VNA serves communities throughout western Pennsylvania, including Butler, Armstrong, Mercer and Northwest Westmoreland counties, as well as portions of surrounding counties.
Helping your loved one remain active and engaged with others can greatly improve their mental and physical well-being. Benefits include lessening feelings of isolation and depression as well as maintaining important social and motor skills.
Here are a few ideas for keeping your loved one socially active:
- Take an art or music class
- Participate in a yoga or tai chi class at a local community center
- Take part in or observe a ballroom dance class
- Visit a botanical garden or museum
- Go on a shopping outing to a favorite store
- Get involved in volunteer activities
- Attend church
- Join a club that appeals to a specific interest (i.e. bridge, books, knitting, gardening, etc.)
